Since 1990 I have worked as a mental health professional serving children and families, individuals and couples. My work experience spans multiple settings including community mental health, public schools, and private practice. In addition to my counseling practice, I have also worked as a teacher and trainer on mental health issues, and I am a certified and registered yoga instructor.
I began my work
as a volunteer counselor at a shelter for battered women. Later, as a
VISTA worker and community organizer, and after some time studying abroad, I
decided to make human service work my profession rather than an
avocation.
I earned an M.A. from John Caroll University in 1990. I then became a Certified Mental
Health Counselor in 1997 and a Licensed Mental Health
Counselor in 2001. Graduate work in art therapy at Ursuline College in
Ohio followed by many hours of supervised clinical work allowed me to become
registered as an Art Therapist in 1992 and Board Certified in Art Therapy in 2006.
